Ibrahim Traor\u00e9, who took power in 2022 coup, tells state broadcaster \u2018we must tell the truth, democracy isn\u2019t for us\u2019<\/p>\n

People in Burkina Faso should forget about democracy as it is \u201cnot for us\u201d, the military president, Ibrahim Traor\u00e9, told the country\u2019s state broadcaster.<\/p>\n

Traor\u00e9 took power in a coup in September 2022<\/a>, toppling another junta that had taken power just nine months earlier. He has since stifled opposition and in January banned political parties outright.<\/p>\n
